so how about half in the bed and half in the trailer? thats 1400 each..not bad considering the payload of the ranger is err..looking for it now

the max trailer weight is 2480 lbs

----------

gcwr = 6000 pounds for my truck

Rangers typically have about 1200 pounds of payload capacity, but even if you did half in the truck and half in a trailer, as soon as you hooked that trailer to your truck the tongue weight combined with the rock in the bed would put you way over your payload capacity. Your payload includes anything in the bed, a tank of gas, passengers as well as trailer tongue weight.

----------

To find the exact payload for your truck you need to know how much the truck weighs including the weight of whatever you carry in the truck all the time (passengers, a full tank of gas, gear ect) and you subtract that weight from the GVWR thats listed on your door tag and you will have your payload capacity.
