the first time i did it i went and rented the special tool that holds the bolts, when i moved em to my other truck i just jammed a big screwdriver into two of the bolts and that held it fine

as for the alternator (i think you asked about that in the other thread) i used an impact gun to get the nut off (and put it back on) sometimes the pulley pops off easy, sometimes you need to pry it with a screw driver, once i needed a puller to pop it off
