i actually left the rubber coating on my bezel when i painted mine, and if it gave me problems i would sand it off with either 400 or 600 grit paper. but it seems to be holding up very well for the 3 weeks its been like that. i used krylon fusion Hammered finish. then threw 5 coats of duplicolor clear on it. came out real nice. just put a good thick coating of base. i prepped it with a scotchbrite pad then de-greased it with simple green de-greaser.
