So I've read all 13 pages and I'm a little confused (common, seeing as I'm a noob)...

anyways. I really love the look of HID's and will be getting a Ranger within the next couple of weeks.

However I'm not sure I understand what all is needed...so let me see if what I think I've got is right.... if I want "HID-looking" lights I can just get bulbs that plug in just like replacing the stock bulb, but if I want LEGIT HID's I have to get new ballasts? What exactly is a ballast?? A picture would be awesome. Or maybe just a better explanation.
