Default Diesel Conversion, is it worth it?

Well, its been awhile since my last post. This one should seem like a walk in the park for some of you wrench turners.

I have a 92 Ranger w/2.3L 4cyl gas. I have acquired a 2.3L 4/cyl Isuzu Diesel w/5sp transmission. I am getting 20+ mpg with what I have. My only reason for the swap would be better economy and more torque. I had changed out the rear end from a 3.45 to 3.73 and did not notice any difference except with the speedometer. I have a small boat that I fish with and pulling it out of the lake just about smokes the clutch. So..............I was wondering??? and what kind of price do you think I would be looking at if I was to do the work myself? The diesel is not turbo charged.
