I've heard pretty much the same thing about pitbull tires, great offroad tires, horrible onroad tendencies. Although the growler appears to be marketed as an extremely aggressive all terrain (looks more like a mud terrain to me).

1) Pitbull Growlers are bias ply
2) User posted that pitbull rep told him that users get 20-25K miles out of them.
