i would also trade my 2wd for your 4x4
i have a 99 2wd 4.0 auto, its been averaging 18mpg with a home made hot air intake on it, i just took that off though and switched to a stock replacement drop in filter and pulled the air box silencer, haven't burned through a whole tank yet but i'm betting i'll get 22mpg now
i also have a 98 4x4 with a 3.0 auto, with stock 3.73s and 31in tires the mileage was like 15 around town, but i got like 27mpg on the highway, cruised at a nice low rpm and didn't struggle at all, always liked my 4x4 better
i'll post again with updated numbers on my 2wd
also, have yu considered putting an electric fan or a set of underdrive pulleys? they helped out on my 4x4, i'm amazed that you got 10mpg, were you in 4hi or 4lo? and how bad were the roads?
