The d35 ttb is known for being almost as strong as a d44 straight axle. Especially when you play musical parts at the junkyard. It is a lot stronger than the current ifs on a ranger which is common smoking parts with 33" on trails. A stock d30 will outlast it on any trail. Step up to chromo shafts/better outers and the d30 is a little stronger than a d44. Even the d44 will start having issues with a set of 40"s.

As for the op original question don't do it on a stock ifs truck regardless of gears. Those generals are a very sticky tread and I wouldn't put it past them to snap both half shafts first trip out. Breaks should be fine there are idiots with 24"s stuffed under these trucks and expos andthose manage to stop. Trust me stupid chrome rims are heavier than those race only generals. Your model ranger will have a dual piston front and drum rear they are not weak breaks...hell look at the single piston jeeps that push 37"s all day long. If it was me I would sell the lift and sas the truck onto 38"s will save your ass in the long run vs throwing parts into a shitty weak ifs setup. Trust me after the second set of halfshafts in 3-4 months trails get expensive. Hubs aren't cheap either and they are next to go on these.
