Bad gas milage and also oder of raw gas

Hi i have a 97 ford ranger xlt extended cab 4x4 with a 4.0 v6 engine back in may i was going down to a doctor and i was in slatington and i was stopped at a stop lite and the truck just shut off and the gas gage said the truck had a 1/4 tank of fuel but i managed to cost it backwards a few hundred yards to a gas station and put gas in it and then it ran fine so i took it to the garage afterwords and the fuel filler hose was cracked so i had that replaced and now when i'm parked with the truck running i get a odor of raw fuel could anybody please help

Haha, why y'all being dicks?

Ok after they replaced the fuel filler hose, is it still leaking? Is the odor coming from there too?

No the oder is only while the truck is running and parked it is dry around the filler hose so do u have any other ideas i appreciate the help

Is the odor coming from the engine compartment then? It could be a loose evaporative emission hose. Besides an actual fuel line or a bad fuel o-ring somewhere in the fuel rail/injectors.

I'll have to check the evaporative emission hose tomorrow.
But what is confusing is now today i didn't smell any gas odor but i did yesterday after i stopped and put some gas in the truck and it was real strong meaning the odor of gas

Someone told me my fuel vapor hose might b cracked where is it at

Well it's basically a hose/line that runs from the tank towards the engine, I would check the hoses connected to the purge solenoid. Might be cracked or loose.
