Default Crank Fan Removal on 2005

I have a 2005 and there is both the fan on the crank and an electric fan on my truck in front of the radiator...If i removed the one on the crankshaft would that help me at all or would it cause more harm than good? The electric one i have only heard cut on when the truck actually starts up so is it not designed to cool the truck and is just there as a back up of can i remove the other one and be fine?
