Default Where is the dpfe sensor?

I got the 332 Error code and from what I have read, the dpfe sensor is often to blame. BUT... my haynes manual does not show where it is.

Where do I find a dpfe sensor on my 1992 ranger?

EDIT: doing a little more reading, it seems that I might not have one. There just might be an EGR valve sensor. Can I just clean this with carb cleaner?

I had a 92 mustang with a 2.3, and it did not have a dpfe like stated. All it had was the EGR tube from the exhaust manifold to the EGR valve bolted to the intake manifold, and ofcourse a vacuum hose that goes I don't know where.

So I would check the hose and clean out the tube and egr.

I had a stab at it. The valve came off easy enough but the tube was plugged with SO MUCH CARBON. I tried using carb cleaner and a few small tools, but I think the valve is factory stock. I'm probably just going to get a new valve if codes keep popping up.

I just replaced my EGR valve. My 95 ranger had an error code of po401 but I change the valve and the check engine light came back on. Any Ideas......?

Your truck uses an EGR Valve Position sensor, EVP. This is how the computer can tell if the EGR Valve opens far enough. It is unlikely that the EVP is bad. In my case (I have a 93 withthe same set up) I replaced both the EGR valve and the EVP. CEL went away

Your truck does use a DPFE sensor and they are known to have problems.

you are right. I took out my EGR, soaked the carbon filed end with gas and then scraped away at it.

working fine now.
