Ignition problem
Car seems to run fine but check engine light is on. used to be on intermittently but is now on all the time. Had a tune up in the fall when mechanic pulled a 224 code off. He said the 224 code went away and the CEL was still on due to my need of a new catalytic converter. Well I fixed the converter and the CEL was still on so I decided to learn how to read the codes my self. In KOEOff mode i got 111 (system pass) and 224 in continuous memory. In KOEOn mode I get a 998 (limp home mode?) Since I had new plugs and wires installed in the fall I decided to check the coil packs. Well I noticed the left 2 wires on the front coil pack were not firing/sparking so I installed a new coil pack there to fix it but I'm getting same problem - left 2 wires dont spark. I'm new to working on cars so not sure where to go from here. Would the next logical thing to check be the ICM?
thanks in advance!
