Default Mice have gnawed spark plug wires

My 2009 Range XL w/ 2.3L 4-cyl. engine has been parked for about 6 weeks and mice or rats have nested on top of the engine and chewed thru 2 of the spark plug wires. On the two gnawed wires there is very little left of the boot to grasp and pull out. I have tried pliers with no luck.

What in and around the distributor can be removed to make more hand room?

Any other thoughts? Drill w/ cork screw lol

HA - Great idea and I tried but hands too big, too clumsy, and mosquitoes too well fed after an hour’s worth of fumbling around. What I did do was screw some 3” deck screws in the center of the two remnant boots and connect new spark wires to the heads of the screws. This worked well enough so I will at least avoid a tow charge to get the truck to a shop.
Thanks
