No compession after head gasket change

I cant figure this out. I have a 97 ranger with the 2.5 in it. My dad fried the head gasket a while ago and i just let it sit for about 6 months. I replaced the head gasket and got the engine back together. I took the #1 cyl to tdc and then lined up the marks on the crank, oil pump and cam. I figured "yes im almost done!". Well 3 days later im sitting here typing this... I have no compression when i turn it over (by hand). I can hear a faint hissing coming from the breather tube next to the oil fill on the valve cover. I have the valve cover off now and all the valve's turn in normal operation. My fingers hurt from pulling the timing belt off so much. Any help would be great. I need to get this truck up asap so i can get to school

the rings can be stuck.... shoot some marvel mistery oil in each cylinder.. let sit for a day or two.. and with the plugs out.. spin it over with the starter and see is if blows any goop out.. then install the plugs, and try to fire it up
