ok, when you say tuned with the stock hardware, what would consist of it? is there a specific place i go to to get it tuned, or just to a regular mechanic? cause i might go to a regular mechanic and say i want my car tuned. and they might just replace the spark plug etc.

It needs to be a tuner that specifically specializes in your project vehicle. For example, I only work on Mitsu/Subie with some Nissan/Toyota but rarely. I also tune anything AEM. (Even N/A's)

On a side note, this may be a 2.3, but it puts out the as much hp as a 305 chebby v8 did in the late 70s.

Get a tuner, get it tuned. That (according to other peoples dyno testing, not mine) should be able to free up about 14hp, all other parts of the engine being stock. Then cams, then boost.

Or, just enjoy your 30mpg and peppy truck. If you wanna go fast, it costs money. Not only when you build it, but also every time you fill up.

14 for a mail in tune with no testing, not that bad - still won't feel any faster though. The only real way to tune is with logging and running and logging and running, I'd be surprised with any less than 30.

Not with everybody, I actually get better mileage now than stock. It depends on what is done.
