Default 98 2.5L Small oil leak (with pictures!!!)

I just recently purchased this 1998 XLT with 144,000 miles. Everything seems pretty solid aside a slight hard shifting tranny and this small oil leak. I'm contemplating adding Lucas Engine Oil Stop Leak (any thoughts) but I'd prefer actually repairing the leak. I'm attaching photos. Can one identify what might be leaking? It appears to be the item circled in red, but again, may not. I'm new to Rangers so any assistance is appreciated.

Looks like maybe the Valve cover might be leaking. I have some leaks on my 92. it goes through a quart of oil every so often. I wouldn't add any sort of stop leak. if you don't want the leak then clean all the leaking oil off and drive it for a day or two and see if you can get a better idea of where the leak is coming from.

I'm not sure what the item circled in red is, but I do know that if you want to pinpoint a leak source that the best way is to get some engine cleaner, spray it on, douche it real good at the carwash, then drive and watch. How often to watch? That is always a guess but a bad leak, check every maybe 2-3 miles, not so bad, 5 - 10, etc. You'll just have to experiment. On the stop leak and high mileage engine oils, what those products typically do is they have a seal softener in them. The theory is that seals somehow, even with oil on them, get dry, brittle and leak. What's my two cents on that stuff? I'm on your side of the fence, find the leak and fix it as opposed to mask it. On the other hand, if you're trading it in then any miracle fix in a can is fair game.

I have brought at least 50 vehicles back from the dead. First thing I do is clean the chassis and engine. It is a messy job. I use brushes , a hose , simple green, sometimes a carwash.

That could be the oil pressure sensor.

I am not a big fan of the Lucus type additives. Maybe for a RMS to buy some time. For VC gaskets, sensors, etc, just fix them.
