2.3l towing/hauling thread
What is the most your 2.3/2.5 has towed/hauled? This week I had 0.4 tons or about 850 pounds in the back of mine, made first gear struggle but would climb any hill in puyallup. (We have crazy steep hills)
While its not impressive for an F-150 or a 4.0 Ranger, 100HP with 133FtLbs is not much, a 2013 Civic has better graphs than my '93. So its interesting to see what they can do 10, 15, 20 years later or however old your ranger is.

I hualed 600lbs of oak and 200 in tools I use at work from my job to my grandparents cabin 45 miles away. Like you said its alittle slow taking off in first but was able to run 45-50 up the hill in third.

I typically run very low RPM, Saves gas. I also lack a tach, so I'm very cautious lol

I've got a small sunpro tach. Me, I like to do a little gear jammin. Just keep it below 5k.

My dad had a 95 2WD ext cap 2.3 5 speed and I towed u haul trailers and a boat across pa with hardly any trouble. I was so impressed I wanted one. And we grew up with full size trucks. That's why I wasn't afraid to buy one when I got mine.

Re: 2.3l towing/hauling thread
Not a ranger but I used to haul scrap steel and Had 2100 lbs in the back of my 2.2 S-10 once, usually about 1500 lbs towing a trailer with tin on it.Couldn't get it in 5th but 4th was fine at about 50 towing 45 miles to the yard.I have two friends that scrap and they both have 2.3 rangers and haul 1000-1500 lbs at a time, does a fine job.I'll get a picture of them loaded

If you guys want to compare dicks, they have websites for that.
It's interesting to see how much weight people pull with the 4 cyl, as it's not for towing/hauling.
