When you say TPD to you mean the throttle positioning sensor? If so, I've already replace that as well as the IAC, MAF, EGR, Plugs, and Wires.

I just retested the compression and all cylinders came out at 200 PSI. I was going to put oil into cylinder 4 to see if it was a ring or a valve causing my problem. I decided to completely redo the test because I didn't realize I had to hold the gas pedal down the first time I did it. Needless to say, I think my valves and rings are OK.

Could this be a timing issue? I do know the timing belt replacement is way overdue.

I've been listening to my 2001 run trying to figure out what doesn't seem right and I've begun to think the timing belt may need replacement as well since everything else seems to be in order and it's not throwing any codes.
If yours is due, I wouldn't consider it a waste of money to do while you're working on it.

did you test your IAC before replacing it? I read that it should move when plugged in and the key is turned to the on position. Mine moved about a millimeter one out of the 15 times i did this test. I could feel it pulse in my hand like it was trying but it seems like its not working right. Im getting a multi-meter to test it with next. Do you know how that test should be done?

I'm still having the same issue. I got frustrated and bought an Acura RSX Type-S over the weekend. I'm keeping the ranger so I'll figure it out eventually.

I had my tps disconnected for the longest time because it was idling out of control turns out this time it was because I disconnected my evap because it wasn't working (guessing one of the wires melted which I fixed) reconnected evap now its much closer to normal . Still runs rough though need to get an obd to check codes again

This sounds exactly like what my 93' is doing. To a T, took it in to the shop, replaced my MAF and sent me on my way. Which would be fine, if she wasn't still running rough and stalling when idling at intersections. Always starts for me, but check engine light flashes. Dude at the shop tells me the codes it's throwing makes no sense, so he thinks my computer is fried. Which, I have no idea where that is or what it takes to replace them. He mentioned I might be able to get one from a junkyard, but, the unit might be VIN number specific. Does anybody know if the computer to the engine is specific to a VIN number or how I go about getting one for less than 1000$? This guy had my poor girl for 2 days and still didnt' fix her! Told me he'd have to do some research & call me back. So, this is me attempting to do my own research. Any help is appreciated.

I think you should be fine getting an OBD-I ECU from a 1993-1995 with the same engine/trans that you have. Not sure on the older trucks, but I think the cab is close to the same, my ECU is in the passenger side of the firewall, just above the a/c and heater stuff.

Welp, my ranger caught fire the other night trying to sputter on home out of no where it wasn't giving me and power I could get the rpms up once but once they dipped below 2000 again it wouldn't accelerate again. Took the valve cover off to find the 3rd cylinder intake valve's lifter was no longer attached. I'm reinstalling everything by Sunday ill let you know my results
