I found that I did have a bad intake gasket, which I replaced. It didn't help the problem so I tried replacing the IAC valve on a whim, that didn't help either.

I'm at a loss.

Replace the mass air flow sensor.

Did you fix the problem yet?

No not yet. I have been working 14-16 hour days for a while and haven't been able to spend time on it. I will be sure to update when I try more things or fix the problem. I'm going to do as stageranger suggests and replace the MAF the next chance I get.

Ok, so I just replaced the MAF. No difference, it still won't idle correctly. The idle does seem like it smooths out more quickly. Maybe because its a warm today?

I'm grasping for straws at this point.

I did a compression test.

Cylinder 1 - 180 psi
Cylinder 2 - 180 psi
Cylinder 3 - 180 psi
Cylinder 4 - 150 psi

So I probably have a bad valve on cylinder 4 but why do I have a misfire code for cylinders 1 and 2?

I am having this same problem from what I can tell. I started today with cleaning the IAC but when I got it back together it was even worse than yesterday, it used to just idle rough now it stalls when idled. I cleaned it with throttle body cleaner, any chance I messed something up inside the IAC? or should I just keep on with the process (MAF sensor, EGR valve, etc.) I also know my air filter needs to be cleaned maybe just replaced, which I believe could make for a very dirty MAF sensor

I think I got about 11 Ohms when metering out my working IAC when disconnected. Also, your engine will stall if a working IAC is unplugged while idling. Hope this helps.

For my next step I plan on pouring a small amount of oil in the cylinder that has low compression to determine if the problem is a cracked ring or a bad vale. Hopefully your problem isn't as severe.

Everything I would've suggested seems to have been done already... I think... although something seems wrong in cylinder #4. Did you check/replace the TPS?

It is possible to damage the IAC when cleaning it. Same with the MAF.

I hate to tell you where to waste more $ but I'm wondering if you have a timing issue. Maybe look into ignition control module (if there is 1?), crank sensor or cam sensor. Just ideas, I also do not know if there is both crank/cam sensors on this engine.

yeah i think im going to pull the IAC off again and test it. My problem got way worse after i cleaned it so chances are pretty good that I damaged the part.

Maybe you have a bad spot on the TPD where it idles? I would double check the plug wires to make sure you have them snapped on and didn't accidentally separate the wire from the boot.
