| | My 05' 2.3 is missing!
Ok so I just purchased this truck, it's an 05' with 123500 miles. It's a 5spd regular cab....my issue has been from idle up to 2000rpm there is a miss when not accelerating (also rough idle). I replaced the spark plugs, wires, fuel filter, checked the vacuum hoses and do not have any engine lights on.
Today I had to pull the battery out to jump a neighbors vehicle, when I replaced the battery (which reset the computer) and drove the truck the miss was gone! It ran like a charm.....until I shut it off at the mall. When I started it up again the miss was back! Is my computer bad? Maybe my IAC ??
Any help appreciated!

Andrew | I am having a similar issue with my 99. this is an informative website http://www.fordfuelinjection.com/?p=13 I bet your pcm is good. my guess is a sensor is bad and the pcm uses a default setting while reprogramming it.

Andrew | if you end up fixing it please let me know. so far i have changed my ect sensor. i cleaned my iacv, again and tested it for resistance. I think it was just about 0.0 I cleaned my maf. in the last 10k miles plugs wires, pcv, fuel filter, air filter. clean utterfly in TB. I was suspecting fuel injectors because i got a misfire code p0303 a few weeks ago. i cleared that up with a new fuel filter and some techron. then when i discovered that the mis went away when i reprogrammed the pcm. does anyone know if what happens with the fuel injectors right after the pcm is rebooted.

Ok so I cleaned the MAF (all the little wires were completely black) but I wasn't able to get it squeaky clean. I used my wifes little eye liner brush to try and scrub it but I didn't want to break anything. I reset the cp again by taking the battery out. It seems to run much better. It only misses certain times, the idle is more steady (around 750) and much smoother although not perfect.
One thing I did notice is that when I turn on the AC the engine stays revved up when I take my foot off the gas and switch gears. Maybe this is a totally different issue?! I'm not sure. I might go ahead and replace the MAF and see if that totally fixes it.

If the idle is staying up when the ac is on, it sounds like the IAC is sticking. this can cause erratic or rough idle, so cleaning it or replacing it would be next on my list, given what you have already done.

I am going to clean the IAC today (again)....Johnbaum you said it could be sticking, does it need to be oiled, or is it all internal? I didn't really look at it real close when I cleaned it before. Thanks for all the help so far!

Thanks for all the help so far! | I cleaned mine with elctrical cleaner. it was not getting everything so i used qtips. they removed a lot of black crap. I think it is okay to use them . I know with a maf you do not want to touch the wires at all
I looked at mine closely today and it is naturally open a little when disconnected. I could not tell if it was fine or not. I did a resistance test on it and it was 0.0
