My 2010 4 banger, automatic/OD with the AC off is getting a disappointing 20 MPG city/hgwy. It's going to mean I don't drive the truck to work but once a week. On Fridays the traffic demands an auto trans. I will be taking my 97 Civic HX, 36 mpg instead most days.

5,000 miles.
5-Speed.
Winter been cold, so far I've been about 19mpg City driving.
Last summer/fall, 25-26 mpg on a tank, I've had as 32 on highway, free way kills it.

Re: MPG with the 2.5
my truck is a 2.5
single cab
153,000 miles
just tuned up w / plugs , and wires.
18.5mpg on 70mph freeway
I wonder if there is any way to improve my gas mileage.
I have had 4wd trucks get better mpg, and this truck runs good , but it is my first 4cyl in 10yrs. I need help figuring out how to get better mpg.
Oh it is an automatic 4spd w/od

The 70MPH is what killing you. I've seen mine drop on my scan guage when i'm on the freeway, so I now take the back road if I know the area.

Re: MPG with the 2.5
Uh huh, for better mileage drive slower, always use the OD and air those tires up.

Re: MPG with the 2.5
Done some more tinkering this weekend , and found that the fuel filter was partly clogged. Replaced it. Had a terrible time getting the fuel line off because someone bent it on the filter , and got it on cross ways. (did not no it was possible w/ a push lock fitting ). LOL . Wish I had a better route to work , but I work in springfield, TN . I-65 south is my best route . New tires on the truck. I am running it with 235/75r/15's. Guy I bought this from told me he got 30 mpg, but I know he is full of it ,because I ran the axle code check , on it ,and the code is 87, which from what I found was an 4.10 axle ratio. LOl bigger than I run in my stang.
