Replacing Engine mounts.
OK I have a 93 XLT ranger. I need to replace the motor mounts but I don't have a big enough jack for it. I'm probably going to buy one cause the mechanics want 350$ to do it. The guy at the shop said their are three mounts for the engine. What exactly do I need to do to replace them?

Re: Replacing Engine mounts.
one by one you loosen the bolts that hold each motor mount in place install and move on to the next one.

Ok I guess im just kinda nervous about this. Would a smaller jack that lifts 2 tons be perfectly able for the job? Or should I get a bigger jack?

Re: Replacing Engine mounts.
What ever size jack you use, after you get it raised up, put some jack stands under the frame.

Just don't have much money right now, and would rather do it myself then spend 350$.

Re: Replacing Engine mounts.
You may need to slightly lift the block in order to replace the motor mount but not always. A 2 ton jack is more then enough to make this slight movement.

I hear ya. If I had $350 laying around, sure I'd have someone else do it. But for a lot of us that's a ton of money for not that much work.
I've never changed the mounts on a 4-cylinder Ranger, but it shouldn't be that difficult. Just don't go putting fingers where they don't belong and I'm sure you'll be fine. I'm pretty sure some other members here have tackled this job and can chime in tomorrow.

Haha, Yeah I've been going over videos, and reading posts ect.. And I feel confident I can do it. It's just my first time so I just want to see if anyone had any tricks they could teach. But it seems pretty straight forward.
