2500 RPM Idle???
I guess a short introduction followed with my tech question. I am in absolutely no way a truck guy. I actually hated them up until recently when I purchased my Ranger. I'm 18 and this is my first time wrenching on a vehicle.
Before the Ranger, I drove a 2g Eclipse, that was my first car and will always be my favorite. Sadly do to money situations, I could afford it anymore. Any who, on to the tech question.
I bought a 96 Ranger 2.3 2wd 5speed for $750. Everything checked out great. Literally not even 24 hours after I had it the slave cylinder went out. So I dropped the tranny and replaced it. Then come to find out, I have a waterfall leak in my thermostat housing. I just got that replaced tonight aside from this guy trying to help and ruining my gasket so it all has to come back out.
Earlier this morning when I turned the truck on, I could tell it was idling super high. I plugged a tach into it and its idle is at 2500.
I have no idea what could be causing this. I read on here that the throttle body could be getting stuck open but I looked at it and it seemed to be opening and closing just fine. Also maybe carbon build up?
Any help is greatly appreciated.
