well the tranny price , i believe its not a rebuilt but its used , but the company that i got a price from told me i believe like i said about $300 and then depending on who i get $100 to install it
Just somethin to think about for the future , is it also a pain to replace the tranny , like is $100 a good price
Yeah so basically ill have 94 ranger with 88,000 miles on the engine so pretty good , i wish it was lower but thats pretty good considering the one i have says 174,000 miles
But one question i was tryin to decide , if i had to buy another tranny and wanted to switch it to automatic , so get an auto tranny , is it a pain at all setup wise , like there is in column thing near the stearing wheel
I know one person did this and i dont know how but he had a manual tranny and switched to auto but he did somethin with his shifter on the floor from his manual tranny and made it work for auto , so like the 1,2,3,4 gears ect he had it set as park , reverse , neutral , drive ect , assuming that is difficult to do , but i do like my manual but its just a pain because i have bumper to bumper traffic every morning so it takes time to get used to i guess

Hi all back again , i finally got in the engine but pieces were missing from it , so im pissed because the guy who was going to install it wants more now cause more work to do , so im gonna call them in the morning to see what went wrong or if problems ill return and get my money back
I have a question i need your opinions on though , depending if things dont work out and i need to return the engine then im just gonna sell it or something because im starting to ret really frustrated with this whole situation
My question is if i have to sell it i wanted opinions on what i should do and any ideas of good places to list it , other then here and craigslist and i got a local flyer , ok my two options
1. sell the truck completely as it is , but without the engine , because i have someone that will give me $150 for it and try to get a few hundred for it
2. part the truck out , i mean as much as i can do , the tranny , wheels , interior , whatever someone might need
So what do you guys think try to sell it as a whole or part it out , im almost thinking part it out because i was thinking i can hopefully get atleast $100 or so for the tranny , not even sure how much its worth
Ok any advise would be really appreciated

Thats a hard decision. Ask yourself if you are completely sure you want to get rid of this truck. If you have weighed every option I would part it out my self. Man thats hard to say and it even isnt my truck.

all my pistons were bad , the block was cracking and a few other things, and everyone said by the time i replace everything it payes just to buy another engine so i ended up finding an engine that had 88.000 miles on it and now its in there and the guy said its running good
Any now i have no other problems with smoke comin out of my tailpipe , its basically a 94 ranger with 88,000 miles on it
i do have a question though , considering i got another engine , dont i have to contact the dmv or something so they know the changes made or what

You shouldn't have to. Check your state laws but generally all they care about is the mileage on the vehicle, not the powertrain.
I feel your pain though. The head gasket let go on mine. Once I got the head off and saw a chunk missing out of #1 piston, I just got another engine and did the swap for one with 83,000 miles on it.

luckly the guy who did the work gave me a decent price and also he took $200 off the total price because he took my old engine , so it all finally worked out , for some time it didnt seem like it would ever get done
But the sad thing is the whole head gasket blowing and everything , happened over just a hose that got riped and everythin else happened , but the guy also said that the pistons seemed so bad almost like they have been bad but someone tried to cover it up , so i was pissed but also glad he noticed the problem now
Ok im gonna check , yeah cause ive never had to replace an engine so i didnt know if there was any special rules ect | | Thread Tools | Search this Thread | | | | | |
