well my biggest expense obviously is the engine for $500 , if someone knew were then was a 2.3L cheaper then what im quoted would be great
i got a message from someone on here saying he got his engine for $100 and it was the same engine as mine , so that would be great even if it was out of state and i had to ship it , it would still be cheaper then $500
well the other big thing is , even if i can sell it i probably wont get much more then $300 or $400 considering the current problems , but on the other side if i got another vehicle how would i know if its a pos or not
the biggest thing is , i would really like to keep my ranger or worst case get another ranger , because liek the other people on here i really like the truck , good on gas and fun to drive , espically cause its manual
but lastely i wanted a second opinion on should i keep it or sell it , keep in mind ive but a few hundred in it already

im thinkin more and more about tryin to keep it , for a few reasons
1. even if i sell this at the most for 300 to 400 , i wouldnt be able to find anything other then crap for that price
2. atleast once its all done i never have to worry about the engine again
but there is one thing i was thinking about , the engine is out of the truck and i was tryin to decide before i go even farther should i take the tranny out to have someone look at it , basically to make sure that once i put in the other engine there wont be more problems
im hoping also which ever engine i get that it would come with the cluth plate because mines schorched or somethin pretty bad
the one good thing , someone offered me $150 for my old engine , so im thinkin i might do that and so im still gettin more then if i junked the whole truck
The last thing is , ive been getting prices all around between 400 to 500 im not sure if these prices are good or not , the engine i was looking at has 88,000 miles on it , but like i said i was talking with timay4337 and said that he got an engine for $100 , i know i probably couldnt be that lucky but i just didnt know if there was anything else out there , like even in your area or out of state

if you look and wait... you will find a deal... but the big thing is the warrenty.... if you get a $100 buck engine and the head is cracked/busted your back at the same deal....
get the $500 engine.. and see if it covers the R&R labor if it is bad.....

well i got a guy in tennese that for $400 , free shipping and he said if we have a problem that he will also pay for the shipping back
about the clutch disc , is it stupid not to buy a brand new one , like i said i was told my old one is very bad , unless i get lucky and there is one on the $400 engine
what do you think about checking the tranny , would it be stupid not to do it or to much pain in the ass or what

How was the Trans? any issues? shift smooth? if all that was good.. just install new front and rear seals and some new fluid and let it be.
if the clutch is bad, replace it, or you will be soon, replace the clutch disk, the pressure plate, throw out bearing and have the flywheel surfaced.

didnt really notice much of a problem , except sometimes when shifting it took a little bit extra to get it into gear almost like off and on had to pull on it a little more to get it into gear , not sure if that has anything to do with the clutch or if that means theres a tranny problem
i was recommended to replace the disc plate

look for "blue streaking" on the flywheel and the pressure plate.. if they are there replace the clutch will go to slipping in short order...

and then replace clutch will go to slipping , does that mean possible a problem with the tranny then and the other thing the same day this whole problem origionally occured i now remember like almost hearing a rattling sound near the shifter , does that have to do with the clutch or what or could that just be a problem with the linkage
please let me know asap , i found this motor but cant wait forever on it but i dont want to buy it and have it that the tranny goes based on what i have said

the clutch disk is much like brake pads, I will still recomend you have the flywheel surfaced
Blue streaking is hard spots in a flywheel, and if not ground out the disk can not grip the flywheel or presser plate properly
the rattling may just be some extra clerance of the throw out bearing rattling agaist the fingers of the pressure plate.

ok so update , we figured out the clanging that i was hearing was coming from the clutch assembly , so as of today i got the engine that comes with a 90 day return policy and will be here in a week , hopefully all goes well and i can get the damn thing back on the road soon
This has been going on for months now , i hope finally this is the end , also the guy doin the work told me incase the tranny ever goes out he can get one and install it between $300 and $400 , is that a good price , just thinking about possible things in the future
