Default 2.5 spark plugs and wires

I just bought my truck with 145K and it has motorcraft wires that look original so I'm thinking it has not had tune-up ever. I got XP104 autolite iridiums (8) for free so I'm going to put those in. I was wondering what suggestions are out there for spark plug wires? Also I was thinking of pulling off intake plenum to make them easier to get at and clean carbon build-up in plenum & throttle body. Or is that a waste of time?

Yes I did post this a couple days ago but because of input from only 1 member I am posting again.

If they are iridiums sound like a good choice let me mention that you're very lucky there getting those bbys for free however I would not spend my time putting in those spark plugs since Motorcrafts are designed to go for 100k let me tell you that changing 8 spark plugs on a 4cyl has never being so hard so I always go for original on mine plus you can always stay away from them for 100k rule I never follow though I always end up changing them way before... And about the carbon build up yes it is really worth it to clean. Help on acceleration gas millage an make truck feel a lot smoother... I will also recommend you do a 'Sea Foam' on your truck, that will take care of spots that are hard for you to get at... Don't forget to clean the throttle there's always nasty built up there... get back to us to see how that worked out for you.

i was wondering the same thing about the wires. Is it worth it to get 8.5 mm and are there any specific brand that works well for us?

there is biased information in document but I think the main point will make you look away from "performance wires".

After reading this I think I might just get the Belden Max from NAPA (lifetime warranty) or stock Motorcraft. And if you want performance I did a bunch of reading that said copper-core plugs provide best performance followed by iridiums and platinums last. I choose iridiums cause I want to try and only do this job once in my life. The motorcrafts' plugs may provide better performance because then end with an F which I think is for fine wire? and I think they are copper? but are supposed to last 100K I believe? Anyways this will probabaly not happen for at least a month so you'll have to wait a while to find out how it went for me.
