You can learn a bunch from parents. When you get to a certain age you stop pissing money away......changing oil every 3000 miles is a total waste of money.

Yep. Especially if u use synthetics that are designed for 10k+. Of course if use synthectics don't use the cheap filters or you'll still need to change it sooner

I change my filter every 1500 and do a full oil change every six months or so. i figure $7-9 dollars a month for some extra piece of mind isn't to much waste.

EDIT: I use the $4 dollar Motorcraft filters.

I change mine every 5K. Could probably go longer but it's not like it's very expensive to do it yourself.

To each their own!!

http://www.edmunds.com/car-care/stop...-your-oil.html

FULL SYNTHETIC can easily go 7,500-10,000 miles, of course depending upon driving habits, roads, environments, etc.

Some folks change oil and filter when the oil is reminiscent of Tar.
Some never change oil and filter because of some misguided belief in "No Maintenance" for up to 100,000 miles.
(these are the same folks seen on sides of roads or parked in travel lanes with flat tires, open hoods, smoking engines, etc.)

FORD suggests using 5W-30, too bad, I'm going to 10W-30 Full Syn and a Wix or Purolator Filter at next change up.

It's YOUR VEHICLE, do as thou wilt.

CHEERS!!
