Re: BlockingOff/Disable your EGR
If you're going to post a suggestion, recommendation, or how-to, but are not mentally able to handle responses that don't agree 100% with you, then I suggest not going on the internet anymore. Considering everything I posted is 100% correct, and you're whining and babbling about it, you're probably not ready for this yet.

Ever heard of the expression "if it ain't broke, don't fix it"?
I promise you aren't discovering some crazy magic thing about the EGR and it's related components that ford overlooked. Ford designed the motor to work with an EGR, so why mess around with it?

I think you are a "little off" so I don't want to confuse you. Above^^ I included the only 2 posts I have on this thread. ....In neither of them do I mention Ford Engineers or do I use the R-word....

Please help me understand. I thought the EGR system was designed to open at cruising speeds and in theory increase gas mileage by burning "fuel" that was heading out the exhaust. How does disconnecting it improve gas mileage?

If I block it off I will get a p0401/2. Then The Peoples Republic of Massachusetts will not give me an inspection sticker. . I know HazardousRanger thinks that is "meaningless" but in the real world it actually matters. ......

The purpose of the egr valve is to introduce exhaust gas back into the combustion chamber to reduce combustion temps to reduce the oxides of nitrogen or nox that your engine emits. It does introduce some unburned fuel back into the engine but it also reduces the amount of oxygen for combustion by introducing exhaust gasses back into the combustion chamber which reduces combustion efficency reducing your mileage.
Disconnecting the egr gives more oxygen to engine at rpms the egr would normally be open.
Your engine is trying to burn what it already burned.

Re: BlockingOff/Disable your EGR
i agree with the egr mod, ive done it one numerous cars, and it seems to improve mpg slightly. just my .02. however from my experience. you can wire in a resistor to trick the computer into thinking the egr is working, and not throw an egr code. also i have personaly passed inspections in MO and IL with egr block of kits and hollowed out cats. if you do it right they cant tell.

Not exactly a plan I would endorse...

Re: BlockingOff/Disable your EGR
First...I have to ask why you support the theory that ford engineers arent retards and that they know what they are doing...all over this forum there are 3.0 bashing threads and tons of peopke say that ford should have never stuck the 3.0 in the ranger....so thats just hypocritical...
Ford engineers may not be actual retards...but they do do retarded things....
My bud has a chevy that has the windsheild washer resorvoir over the battery...freaking retarded. You gotta remove the resorvoir to change the battery..plus filling the resorvoir and getting liquid all over the battery...wtf..
There are numerous things on fords and chevys where u wonder what the engineer was smoking when he designed it.
As for the egr...I am sure some rangers have them and some dont...and im sure their computers are aware of it.
Personally i wouldnt tamper with it..
But lets not stand behind the ford engineers and give them support and credit they dont deserve...if they knew what they were doing the Ranger would still be in the US market and able to get 30mpgs...

Yes it does....u were saying they arent reatards and they know what they are doing....yet they put the 3.0 into a ranger and everyone says thats retarded and ford should never had put it in there...
In some threads u can defend their genius while in others its the verdict that they are stupid.
If they were real geniuses then the ranger would have came with all the options the explorer did...ohc..center console...auto dim mirror...v8...etc..
And if the designers and engineers were geniuses...hmm what about recalls? Cruise control wire recall cuz of no fused wires and causing fires....and so on...
