Default 2000 Ranger 4cyl manual loosing acceleration

My 2000 For Ranger 4cyl manual trans looses acceleration. I changed the plugs and wires. It wouldn't stay on when starting cold. I changed the idle air controller and it starts as it should. However, it is sluggish up hill. It loses acceleration and makes what sounds like a valve knocking when starting up in 1st and second gears.

Also, I changed the exhaust from the cat back and both o2 sensors.

I dont know exactly what the valve knocking is. I would suggest you do a fuel pressure test at the shrader valve. it is a simple test. you can buy a tester at harbor freight for $20 or rent/loan at AZ. yo are looking for around 60 for the test. A clogged fuel filter can cause this issue also. if you dont know the history of the fuel filter you might want to replace that first.
