Default ABS Trouble

I have a 95 Ranger and my ABS light comes on intermittently although its come on more often than usual recently. I checked the flash code and I got code #12. My Haynes manual doesn't say anything about ABS codes buy my Chiltons manual doesn't help much either.

Its not so much that my ABS isn't working, I just hate looking at lights on my gauge cluster. I just was wondering if there is a quick fix so I don't have to tear apart my dash to take the bulb out. Ive taken the dash apart several times before to replace bulbs, replace headlight switches, but I don't like taking it apart.

You try resetting the fault codes by unplugging your battery?

Mine has a code 12 but it is related to the airbag. Your abs light can be cause by several things. Vehicle speed sensor, abs module, low brake fluid...

Crawl under your truck, and gently wiggle the sensor(s), and make sure they are on completely. Mine did this, and when I did the above it went off, and has stayed off. Might just be as simple as the connection being loose.

Well I checked my sensor and wiring and they were all good. I even tested the resistance in the sensor and it came in the range of the proper resistance stated in the Chilton manual. Finally I took off the wiring by the brake fluid reservoir and sprayed some contact cleaner on the electrical connections, and that has done the trick. No more ABS light.
