Default Rear axle differential for lift?

So I'm about to get a 3" body lift on my 2000 Ford Ranger XLT 2WD 2.5L reg cab and I was wondering if anyone had replaced the rear axle differential. My axle type (or whatever it's called) is 4.10 non-limited slip. I have never messed with differentials before and it was just recommended during a "guy talk". lol. I have no clue about it so details and instructions with some prices would be great. I'm looking for more power out of my I4. I'll sacrifice some speed if I have to. (not that I have very much to begin with. LOL) Thanks for the help guys.

BTW the tires that I'm getting are 31x10.5x15
