2.0l performance
i really need more power but cant really afford to do a motor swap what are some ways i can get more power out of my 2.0l 4 banger it makes around (drum roll please) 73hp at the motor i would like to get somewhere between 110-150 to the wheels

i had this problem with my 1st gen
i managed to get about 120-130hp to the wheels
2.3 hydraulic roller head (found on most 2.3l mustangs)
get it Ported and polished and decked (high compression = more power)
bigger valves
Cam and springs (racerwalsh, crane, lunati) its your choice
350 CFM carb
header (most 3rd gens came with factory headers, easy JY find )
a little more work and you could get 150 to the wheels
go old school and find a dual carb intake (i've seen them, they're just a bitch to find)
MSD ignition
i know guys at my local dirt track with high comp 2.3 motors putting down about 350 hp running alcohol
i'd like to do that to another 1st gen just because its so off the wall

you'd have to swap over the computer and everything....
it would be more of a pain in the ass than its worth.

OK some good stuff here, some not so good, Built a hot 2 liter in college, stay away from Fuel injection Like J.P. Morgan's Yacht if you have to ask , you don't know enough, sorry not tryin' to flame you. David Vizard wrote a whole book about hopping up the German/English motor, Ford apparently read the book because the head on my 1991 has incorporated most of the important Mods. Biggest bangs for the buck back then, adapter for Holley 2300 non progressive carb (Racer Walsh) (I already had the carb)3/4 race Cam (J.C. Whitney) rebuilt the engine with 1971 pistons for a full point higher compression. Solid lifter motor only needed stiffer valve springs to be good to 7 grand.(Racer Walsh) Back then cheaper than stock replacements
