Default Need help!?

94 ford ranger 2.3 5 speed

Recently my battery died. So i got my alternator and battery checked. They checked out to be in good working order. So i charged my battery and put it all back in. Truck starts but it seems that the alternater is not charging the battery and on the battery guage on the instrument cluster reads zero volts. When the truck is running it still reads zero volts. When accelerating in first and second gear the truck kinna stutters for a moment. It would idle kinna low but not really. And when the battery has no juice it stalls out and wont start unless i jump it or kick start it but dies later because of a drained battery. Alternator is good and battery us goid what could it be? Any ideas?

Ok, now that you tested the alternator out of the truck and it's good, use a multimeter or a test light and look to see if you have voltage on the output terminal of the alternator with the engine off. This test works better if you have meter so that you can see the actual voltage..If you do then the Fusible link like is good.
Now, you need to check if your getting 12v to the ALT. at the connector going into the ALT....Disconnect the cable and with the engine off and the IGN. switch in run position ,take your meter and ground the black lead on the meter somewhere and probe the pins for 12v, If you do not have 12v at that connector go check the fuses and or relays for the ALT.
If you don't feed the ALT 12v it won't start charging !!!
As a side note, if you don't have 12v at the output terminal of the ALT. with the engine off, then the fusible link is blown and needs to be replaced..

Were you getting 12v at the connector going into the ALT.??
Has three wires if I'm correct.
With the IGN SW. on RUN position ,engine off, you should have 12v
