i've got 237,xxx on my 98...bout to tear it down though, got a piston slapping cause of changing the head on it at 200,xxx, increased the compression, and wore out the bottom end.

i got a 2.3 liter though, all good xp

221,875 miles. I have a red 96 XLT extended cab with a manual transmission. The transmission, engine and A?C are original. I had to replace the head at 211,000 miles. The valve seats had eroded away. This is a common problem with this engine. After replacing the head, it runs like new. Significant power increase. Early symptoms of this problem are decreased power and stalling after down shifting at a stop. Later stages are load exhaust, rough running,rough idle and very low power. A head replacement is expensive, but worth it. The engine sounds like it will go another 100,000 miles.

Just rolled 100K.

I just hit 160k with my 97 2.3 5 speed. Runs great, I think it might need a cat converter pretty soon though. But aside from that its great. Not a single problem otherwise.
