Just change the oil and keep up on the maintenance. If you have had transmission flushes done, keep doing them, if you never have, leave the trans alone!

Edit, the 2.5 with an auto must be completely gutless.

ive got 145000 on mine, this last summer i drove it 1200 miles in 21 hours only stopping for about an hour and a half after 600 miles and for gas and havnt had a bit of trouble since. my uncle had a 92 with a 2.3 and he had just over 300,000 on his when a tree fell on it.

mines got 89000

mine has 2.3 but has 335000 on it i no its not a 2.5

My '00 has almost 96K
Had a '98 with over 240k and ran just like new w/o being overhauled, I've noticed that the 2.5L are really hard to break down unless you don't maintain it like it's supposed to be.

Hi, I drive 2000 Ford Ranger. This truck is my baby, i will never own anything else than a ford. Ok my Ranger has a K&N intake, Flowmaster Super 44 exhaust system, 30000k HID kit, 15 in. Rock Crawler rims, Deezee Brushgaurd with Hella foglights, Blacked-out taillights, light bar, and a few tweeks to my stereo.

My 2000 has 231K on the original engine and trans and rear. I bought it with 81K and it has never left me stranded and has never not started.

It recently has developed a problem that I'm yet to figure out. I'll discuss it in another thread though.

194k...which means i've been a member here for 2,000 miles! woot!

Just a few mods. Pioneer head unit, upgraded to 15 inch explorer wheels, diamond plate tool box.

1996 B2500 (2.5) 116K only failure was a MAF in the first 25K miles. Rear differential leaked a bit then stopped.

Now with another vehicle available in the family I can finally do the timing belt, water pump, hoses and such.

Not powerful but what a great little truck!

183,000 before the head gasket let go and took out #1 piston. The current engine has about 86,000 mile on it.
