Hi everyone. I'm new to the site. New to owning a Ford, needless to say I havent been enjoying myself. I have had the Check engine flashing light, My rear pinion seal is leaking, and now my Slave/Clutch has gone out.
With the Engine light issue the Head had to be replaced, that cost me $675.
The Pinion seal I have yet to replace. but that is going to be a major pain.
My Slave/Clutch has gone out and I'm doing this crap myself. Seems easy enough. Dropping the tranny and bleeding seem to sound like the hardest parts. I have done some research throughout the forum and have gotten alot of good intel. I'm here to see if I can get a few last pointer minus the following:
1.Use a vaccum pump to bleed Slave
2.I might as well replace the clutch while I'm down there.
3.Rear main seal while I'm down there.(didn't get that part, ran out of moolah) How likely is this to go out? 159,000mi on the truck.
The parts I got were from autozone(Duralast). I have seen where alot of people have said Motorcraft are kind of the way to go. I'm kind of scared of this. Motorcraft is just the Ford brand part, right? I DO NOT intend to have this truck after January of next year. Should I be safe?
Any other tips/tricks/hints you guys can offer me?
I'm really excited to do this I consider myself very mechanically inclined and have changed out parts before(S-10 Water pump, U-joint) and my vehicle ran amazingly afterwards. There is something special about taking something apart and putting it back together and it working again! To be honest tho im
myself right now...
