2.3 serpentine belt came off..will that cause future issues?
well drivin back home today from york,i noticed my power steering dissapperaed and my engine temp went wayyy up(not in the red, luckly) and my battery gauge read low n the batt light came on.I figured all these things it had to be the belt and i just got home quick as i could as i had to work soon(about 20 miles like that).well i get home do a quick look and my serpentine belt had indeed come off..i parked the truck, let it cool down n walked to work( its like 10 mins at most walk).im gonna look at it tmrw and see if it broke or just came off. but my question is
could this cause any future issues??

Well the way your telling us ur belt is gone broke off. Yes you could cause damage to your engine and might have issues later. Like blown head, crack head or block.

Check the idler pully, the bearing may have gone out letting it tilt enough for the belt to run off. Depending on how hot, and how long the engine stayed like that, will determine if damage accured.

It would be worth the investment to install a new belt. It came off for a reason. How old is the belt?
I always have a spare in the truck just for instances like that.

Should not cause future issues, unless u let it get too hot and the head warped. Later on u need to check the oil if its milky white or u see moisture under the oil cap your head got warped. If that happened u can buy a new one or have a machine shop repair that one.
----------
The thing is u shouldn't even of drove it a mile like that.

i normally wouldn't of but i wasnt in a situation were repairing a belt was the best option..on a 4 lane highway with no tools,i usually carry some but i left em in my civic. so being that it still ran i drove it home, and it never got into the red on the temp gauge,it barely hit the bar befor that but thats wayyy up from were it usually sits at the C side.

the belt was the one the PO had on it,so im not 100% sure on its age but i do have another belt in the truck but for some reason my memory tells me the PO said it was a mustang belt..but im not sure.
