timing belt broke on my 2.3 ranger shop said the head was damaged broght it home and pulled the head the piston can't hit the head the head valves are to high into the head. he said he tested the compersion the there was none after the timing belt was install at his shop. he tested the spark plug holes on the passenger side there was a lot of carbon in the pistons when i pulled the head. please help any advice. 1996

Year of your truck? To my understanding...the 2.3 sohc is a non interference motor...which means if the timing belt snaps, it won't harm the valves. I have never had it happen.

You think the auto shop put the timing belt on wrong? That's why there was no compression in the cylinders.

They screwed something up big time. You need to have a heart to heart chat with them.
I have had a timing belt slip a few notches in a 89 2.3 and other than a couple of hundred dollars in repair costs, no problems.

I have slipped one belt and broke 2 never did any damage to the engine just lined up the crank top dead center and lined up the cam new belt and off we go again.

Go back to the shop and raise Hell

Unless you burned out all the valves or cracked the head....highly unlikely
