Default trying to figure out which way to go

i have a 1989 ranger. 2.3 auto. i cant seem to decide if i want to build/maybe turbo the existing motor or do a v8 swap. money is a little tight so it will be a budget build. im looking for ease and trying to stay in a budget.

my thing is i have the 2.3 already so it seems like a decent place to start but...i heart horsepower...

suggestions?

prolly a v8 swap, thatd be easier and cheaper than 2.3 build up. since you dont want to skimp on internals for turbos lol

The turbo 2.3 can really get it. At some point they put then in some mustangs and they more than compete with a 5.0. But they are correct, it takes money and time to go turbo. Forged internals, changing the head, etc. a v8 swap its relatively cheap in comparison but the gas consumption is credibly more with only minor amounts of performance invade. It would be better to boost your 2.3, in the long run its easy and cheaper if you plan on driving it. But a v8 if fun if you want to do 4wheel burnouts!
