Default start and idle question

Have any of you guys that own a 2.3L duratec ever had this issue with yours? When i start mine after it sits and the engine is cold the best way I get it to idle up when I start it, is to hold down on the gas (just slightly), otherwise it wants to sputter and sometimes it just dies after it starts...

I took this video on Saturday and the air temp wasn't cold - it was around 55.... soon as it starts and idles a second or two, its find and runs good... The truck only has about 37k miles, and actual idle is excellent, and there's no issues with it whatsoever except the initial startup... Sometimes when its the engine is at normal temp, it will take a couple tries to start - so I'll throw one of those up if I can find it on here...

I don't know the answer or fix but would like tooknow also! I have a 98 2.5liter, when I do a cold start it with run on choke for 20-30 seconds then idle kinda rough. Runs great on the road. Also at a warm start it will idle rough, usally I hold my foot on the gas a little bit, for a few seconds and it clears up and back to a normal idle.

How can I watch the youtube video?

I dont know about the duratecs, but to the poster with the 2.5. I would clean your iacv and your throttle body. I would also make sure your coolant level is full so your coolant temp sensor is covered in coolant. sometimes cleaning the iacv helps but it might need to be replaced rockauto has them from $30-$70. also make sure your linkage and gas pedal are not sticking

my truck is new, so the coolant/anti-freeze is fine - its checked regularly at the dealers every 3000 miles when i get the oil changed in it - full servied... i have noticed tho lately that seems as if the gas pedal seems like it sort of sticks or is hard to push down sometimes - but i have no idea what you're supposed to do to fix it... maybe when i take it to the shop for service/oil change next time i could ask them??

i'm not much of a mechanic so i dont really know anything about how to repair things... reason i was asking why my truck did this...

but thanks anyways

still haven't figured out why the truck starts like this. I went around to a few car lots and acted as if I was "interested" in trading... Figured this way I might be able to cold-start some of their used 4-cylinder and V6 rangers to see what they did. None of them I found had the same issue as mine - and most of these had 50-75k miles.. So I'm beginning to wonder if its not the fuel and some bad fuel at the bottom of my tank that needs to be eliminated from my truck.

Is there anthing you can buy to put in the fuel tank to eliminate bad fuel without removing that tank and cleaning it??
