this is the 16th have you tried any of the above ideas yet. You do not have a year for your truck in your profile. they have after market remoote starters. I agree the thing should start.

its a standard shift truck... its a 2 wheel drive xlt ford ranger. it had NO modifications except for a flowmaster muffler. Its a 2005 model year with 37,000 miles. In the last 18 months the truck has been driven maybe 6000 miles. I don't know anything about remote control starters - it doesn't have the clicker to open the door locks like the lincoln nor the buttons on the side of the driver door like the lincoln.
Its been to the selling dealer and they cannot find the problem. I'm not a mechanic nor mechanically inclined. I have no idea how to even change oil in a vehicle... The selling dealer does all my services on my vehicles for me - i dont do any of those things - i'm not able to do it even if I knew how...
As for what you mean by a profile - i dont know what that is.... but i just told you its a standard shift ford ranger 2 wheel truck regular cab. I dont know what else or how to explain that.... It said on the key thing when i got it 2005 ford ranger standard transmission

on that one video it took a little longer to start, i noticed that, and thought that was a little odd, but my 01 2.5L did that every once in a while, and never could figure out what it was

dealers suck. if they dont see a code they say it is fine.the things i suggested are real easy. you should get a manual. the maf=mass airflow sensor. it is in the air intake by the airfilter box. iacv= idle air control valve, it is attached to your throttle body. you unbolt it and clean out the 2 holes with qutips and throttle body or maf cleaner. clean the butterfly valve on the throttle body and lube the linkage. I bet one of those would fix it.

where would you even get a manual or book to that engine? there's no stores here that sell that stuff... and if I had the book I still couldn't fix it..... I don't know the terms and the parts and how to repair them... I'm not mechanically inclined enough to do that. thats why i take my vehicles to the shop for repairs

a lot of these repairs and maintenance are very easy. the dealer, manufacturers want you to think it is brain surgery. they a have a lot of people baffled. they are trying to make the codes in your car owned by them. that way if something goes wrong with your truck they have to fix it.
I changed an 02 sensor in my wofes vibe the other day it took 15 minutes and i paid $78 for the part. the dealer wanted $300
