New 2011 Ford Ranger 4.0 Engine failure on tight turns
I just recently baught a new Ford Ranger 4.0 4x4, since I drive offroad 20-30% of the day. I have been taking it easy during the break in period, but now its past the 2000 km. mark and I have started playing a bit more. I noticed that on tight turns she studdered and the engine seemed to fail. The truck is equiped with anti skid control. There's a button on the lower dash panel that switches it off, but on both positions the problems is almost the same.
I had the truck imported to Africa, so no warranty here.

Any suggestions?

I would say something with your power steering pump. Its putting alot of load on the motor. How far are you turning when it dies? Does it do it at any turn postion or just all the way cranked?

Re: New 2011 Ford Ranger 4.0 Engine failure on tight turns
if you are losing traction or skidding or sliding and the sensors sense it it will act as if the engine diess for a moment os stumbles and it is normal. it is traction control / roll stability control sensing and it tries to avoid a rollover and gain traction. I know its stupid I hate it my 2010 xl does same thing when it loses traction on wet roads it acts as if the engine dies and flashes the traction control light. that button to turn it off is dumb because even though it will display as being offf it is only turnedd offf in very slow speeds I think anything under 15 MPH. it will remain lit as being off but if u pik up speed is back to ON.

define tight turns?? tight turns in wet slippery terrain??

Part time 4x4 systems dont have a center diff. You may be experiencing the shudder sometimes experienced by taking a turn to sharp at to high of a speed in 4x4. it splits the torque between the front and rear half and half. If you turn the wheel to sharp at speed there's no device to adjust the torque between the front and rear axle the stress can cause you to shudder or actually stall the truck out.

Re: New 2011 Ford Ranger 4.0 Engine failure on tight turns
I think 2010 is right, even though the button is on off position it still monitors the truck. I do some amature rallying, so i prefer to handle the truck myself, and not depend on ASC. Is there any way for me to permanently deactivate it safely? Its just very disapointing having such a powerfull little truck, and not being able to use it fully.
By the way guys, thanks alot for your comments!

Don't start shit about "real trucks" A fake truck would be a Chevy SSR.

He said he doesn't have a warranty because he got it shipped from the states.

There should be a way to plug it in to a computer, and deactivate it, right?
