Default how to transport an engine?

Alright, so my ranger needs a new engine. How am I going to bring the engine from the junkyard to my house? Do I have to bring my engine hoist with me and all that? Also will the engine fit in the trunk of my svt focus? Pls help me, ive never done anything like this before, and im unsure.

at my local junk yard, they have cherry pickers, hoists, chains, and big wheeled carts to pull large items with. they do not supply any other tools, and they do not help you at all.

call your junkyard and ask them would be the best thing to do.

and i wouldn't think that an engine out of any ranger would fit in the trunk of any car, unless it was a hatchback maybe.

bring an old tire for the engine to sit on, and some wooden blocks to help support / balance it. make sure you've got some good quality ratchet straps and make sure you're car has places to strap them to, that or use a couple more tires or something on eather side to keep the engine from tipping over. make sure you put a peice of cardboard or plastic down to keep it from making a mess of you're interior.

you'll also need some kind of hoist to unload the engine once you've got it home.

I always take a few tires and set the oil pan sump in the ring of the tires.

I've also had to build a stand out of 2x4's before, rest the engine mounts on the stand and ratchet strap it down.

The best advice I could give you would be to find a buddy that has a truck and take some old tires (no rims of course) and some wood blocks for support. I would not try to put it in the back of any car, unless you consider the El Camino a car.
