Default Intake resonator removal

Is there a way to remove the intake resonator/silencer but keep factory plumbing? Has anyone done some type of block off? I know it's debatable if it creates power or not. I like the sound of cone filters when accelerating and not to mention replacement oem filters have gotten expensive. So I decided to go with reusable cone, I got kit off of eBay. Motor has a little more grumble and I did notice a increase in mileage not really much power increase maybe a little better response.
And yes I searched for this didn't find anything maybe I worded wrong so if there is a thread about it could you point me in that direction instead of just saying "use the search function it's your friend"
Thanks

All you have to do is remove the air box and you'll see the resonator. Just pull and wiggle it and it will come right out with no problems.

O sorry should have specified. I found that thread already. I did that but I used an adapter and cone filter instead of drop in. I was talking about the box and tube (maybe silencers) that are after the MAF sensor.

There is always a debate. I haven't seen concrete evidence either way. Like I said I like the sound and getting a reusable is more cost effective now.

A reuseable is more cost effective???? Change the air filter for $12. 120,000 miles you'll have $48 invested plus the washables don't filter as good as the paper and you have to oil them or they won't filter very well at all. Not cost effective at all.

Umm let's see the air filter and adapter for my I ordered was $20. So 120,000 miles I'll still have, wait for it $20 invested. WOW! That's cost effective.
It's also a dry filter which I rinse dry and reuse. Plus my mpg went from 23.5 to 25 mpg.
