Default Re: I need a expert regarding my truck

How do you know you overheated it?Did you shut it off as soon as you heard or seen or smelled the radiator hose hit the AC pulley? Was you going to change the gasket anyways? Why?Did you replace the hose and try it?How hot did it get?If you just blew a headgasket,it would not show up in the oil cap as gray glop for a while, more likely that is moisture that is in the oil.(Do you keep up on oil changes?)If after all that you still think you have a bad gasket, when you pull the head, clean between the valves as this is one of the first spots a 2.3 head will crack.Lay the straight edge across it several ways and see if you can see light under it where it lays flat. From my experience, you would have to get it quite hot(250 or more) to crack a head. There are a couple guys at the track that run their engines 225 or more just to make power,we run ours about 200
