Default '97 Ranger Cranks but won't start!!!

Hi, my '97 Ranger 2.3 cranks OK, but won't start. I tryed too leave for work last night when this problem happened, I had NO problems before this. I checked all the fuses & relays, checked fuel pressure and they were all OK. I have no spark to the plugs. I checked the coil packs which are OK and I have power to the coils. I was told that the Camshaft Position Sensor is causing the problem. Would this stop the coils from sending spark to the plugs??

check your timing belt......did you check for spark on both sides of the engine?

I have a 97 and it only uses the passenger side plugs for starting....how r you verifying your coils r ok? Coils are tricky you may have spark on corresponding towers but the others set may be not putting out correct voltage....I did an ohm test on mine and found the pack was bad.

I agree with modelageek definitely check ur timing belt.

I would check your camshaft position sensor. That would a crank no start condition. Now for a basic question do you have fuel in the tank? Fuel pressure does not mean you have fuel in the tank. I work for a dealership and you would be surprised how many times cars come in with crank no start that are out of fuel.

There is also a crankshaft position sensor.
