Default 97 2.3L 4 cyl. Ford Ranger Crank but No Start

Got a 97 ford ranger here.....recently bought it. Truck has strong crank but will not start. Changed plugs, wires, starter solenoid, starter relay, battery, cps, cleaned camshaft sensor, cleaned IAC, new starter gear and new alternator brushes. Was all over the place with tracking problem down. Finally dug into the engine and found the blown head gasket. Replaced head gasket and set timing....still experiencing the same problem. Need help bad.

I might suggest you take it to a shop and have the codes run on the computer. It definately sounds ignition or computer related.

----------

Have you done a compression test?

Well I tested the valve on the fuel rail by checking depressing the valve got squirt wasnt a spray I have read that if the pressure isnt at least 35-55 PSI the engine wont start? I smell raw fuel on crank which is what led me to believe I might not have spark?

Well I have a couple OBD II readers and am not getting a code on either one. No code kinda steered me to coils.

Not with an compression tester no. Just confirmed it went I set TDC on compression stroke on no. 1 cyc. (used my finger).

First, make sure, that the wires are replaced properly.
I have the same issue, and have narrowed it down to having (0r not having) the CPS dialed in properly.
All I know, at this time, is that it needs a special tool, and the CPS gets positioned between the inner and outer vanes of the tool.

Inner and outer vanes of the crankshaft pulley.
Do a keyword search for Crankshaft Postion Sensor Alignment tool.
