Have you searched much at all? The internet is a wonderful thing, and search engines make it work for you.
the SCT X-cal3 works great on these trucks, and Doug at BamaChips makes tunes for them, as do many others.

Sounds like you might not understand how this works. You can advance the hell out of the timing on any car and make it faster but that tends to break the engine sort of fast..

^^^ so.......you didn't look at what I suggested did you?
Lets try this again, since you don't seem to get it. If you want a tuner for your truck, that works more better, check out the X-Cal3 loaded with tunes from Doug at BamaChips.
To find bamachips.com, try google, and from there I hope you can navigate the site till you find what you are looking for. Nothing "off the wall" here, just the best option for you.

Wow, kinda pissy. I'm surprised you haven't heard of the X-cal. What brands do you know of, just out of curiosity.

You are correct. Unfortunately, not many companies offer programmers and tuning for Rangers, and SCT happens to one that does. Thats why it's about all you can find for a ranger when it comes to programmers. If you can find another option, please share it with us.
But just to be clear, SCT is right up there with the Diablo tuners for Mustangs, but Diablo doesn't sell a tuner for the Ranger. And mostly it's about who you can find that will work on Rangers, since there isn't as much after market demand as there is for other vehicles. The ones out there that I know of programming for Rangers, use the SCT X-cal. And it works well. Alot of guys on here and other Ranger sites are running the X-cal, and we all love it.
And yes, I can be a smart ass.

Re: Computer programming
Then leave if you don't want an answer. You asked for the best and what we're telling you is the best. Just because you've never heard of it doesn't make it bad. It just means you don't know jack and are running your ungrateful mouth.
You've been given the advice you asked for several times. Take it or leave it. Based on your piss poor attitude towards people taking time out of their busy day to help you, I'd suggest leave.
