Default Cylinder 1 misfire

Hello Ford Ranger forum! New member here and looking forward to learning from you about my Ford Ranger. I went from a 89 Ford F150 to a 94 Ford F150 and now to my 96 Ford Ranger.

My Situation:
Just purchased a 1996 Ford Ranger XLT. 4 cylinder with a 2.3.

*Check engine light = cylinder 1 misfire. Rough idle, no power, etc.
I changed out the plugs and wires. No difference.

Was wondering if others have had the same problem and what their solution ended up being.

Any help would be greatly appreciative.

Thanks,
Joseph

Ok, took my truck to a mechanic. He advised the coil pack was not the issue. He changed them with new ones and cylinder 1 still mis firing. Plugs And wires are new. Compression test showed around 150psi on first 3 cylinders and around 170 on cylinder 4. Mechanic advised I needed new timing belt and that was replaced. Timing was a little off so that was fixed. I have better acceleration but the missing is still there. He suggested new or used head. I really want this fixed. Anyone have any suggestions?

Took my truck to another mechanic. Found out I have a Burnt Intake Valve. Not sure if worth it or not. Thanks to all for your suggestions.
