The one it came with from the factory. Ford built it right. The aftermarket ones are a joke and make it worse. Money can be well spent elsewhere.

Save some money , if you still have the factory air filter housing and put in a K&N filter. The factory air box isn't too restrictive.

This coming from the person who also claims a throttle body spacer on his fuel injected engine added 4mpg (while chasing a unicorn). Unfortunately, you are not providing realistic information.

I have heard of others who have had improvement in mileage from the spacers especially the ones with the spirals cut into the bore but I have never tried one though.

I can go out right now and get my truck to report whatever MPG I want to make myself feel better. That stupid thing did NOTHING. Think about what is between the throttle body and the piston. Do you really think it does anything but look special?

Yeah, it doesn't make sense but people keep claiming improvements with these things?

I didn't mean on hear, I've seen claims in magazines from manufacturer advertisements and claims in posts made on youtube.
I'm sceptical myself.

Ah. See, this is where you need to think about who is telling you stuff. Of course they're saying that. They want your money!! When you start looking at reviews from people who do not have a financial stake in the matter, the "gains" all of a sudden don't happen.

Here's a link to a site that can turn the 'believers' into 'skeptics'.

http://www.skepdic.com/refuge/wyoming.html

I'm with Matt on this. To many manufacturers getting away with robbing the public. Folks need to really research things, from credible sites and sources. I've done lots of reading on the internet trying to find credible data to support CAIs and the only data I could find was from the manufacturers themselves. Conditions of testing to establish the data they post isn't declared, so in the cases of CAIs, the results are probably captured under bench testing rather than real world environments. And testimonials; lack critical thinking and usually are self fulfilling prophecies.

So, before throwing down big bucks on a CAI or a few dollars on some miracle fuel/oil additive, do the research and the reading. You might just feel a little smarter and remain a little richer.

A car guy friend of mine tells me "what you think you are smarter than the engineers that built that?" Sadly, I think he might be on to something, most, but, not all aftermarket stuff is just looking to extract your $$$$ from your wallet. There are aftermarket companies that actually think through what they are building and do build a better mousetrap. Research before you spend your hard earned cash...buyer beware!
